A Prayer for the Keepers Keeper

Keepers At Home: A Prayer for the Keepers Keeper

I have been recently inspired from a post that I read on Today's Housewife by my friend Kristi, about praying for your husband.  Read Kristi's post HERE.  How essential is this act of faith and love, yet how inconstant is my act of praying for my own dear husband daily. (That's my official confession and repentance, dear sisters.)  I challenge you all to reflect on your own prayer life daily, but especially your prayers for the man whom God has placed over you in marriage and life.

Here is a reflection into my heart's prayer for my own husband:

"Dear Lord,
I thank you for another day where Your mercies are new!  I pray to glorify You with this day and to be a true Keeper at Home, with my heart anchored solidly to Your will for my life.

I give thanks to You, oh God, for the faithful man that You have placed over me as my husband.  Bless his life today Lord.  Give him wisdom and peace today.  Thank you for the way You allow him to provide for our family.  Thank you for giving him a gentle, kind and merciful nature.  Keep his heart close to Yours!  Bless him as a father to our children.  May he impart to them Your precious Word and lead them daily in Your righteousness.  Give him patience and steadfastness in disciplining and discipling our children.  Lord, protect and surround him with Your love.  Give him strength in his weaknesses and keep him from sin's path.  Give him favor at work and promote him that You might receive all the glory!  Be with him and bring him divine appointments that would strengthen his resolve to walk with You daily.

I give thanks to You for my marriage.  Nurture our relationship with You, oh God, that we may reflect Your love unto the world.  Bless our marriage and keep it sacred and holy, unto You.  Lord, I submit to this man, my husband, as unto You and thank you for Your hand in our lives.

In Jesus' victorious and holy name I pray, Amen, Amen.

Proudly serving and promoting my man!

Molly's Money Saving Digest: Ebook Review

Molly's Money Saving Digest: Evaluate, Prioritize, Organize

I have again, the privilege of reviewing for my readers a product from our friends at The Old Schoolhouse magazine & store.  As my readers know, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine has been a staple in our home since we began homeschooling and continues to be a trusted resource at home and our local homeschool community.  In addition to their resourceful magazine, The Old Schoolhouse, also publishes many helpful Ebooks & resources that are built to help guide, lead and encourage homeschool parents and students.  You can visit The Old Schoolhouse store to see more of their great homeschooling resources.

Today, I will review the Molly's Money Saving Digest Ebook from January 2010 titled Evaluate, Prioritize, Organize.  Molly's Money Saving Digest is a monthly downloadable digest that helps the frugal lady, stay frugal.  This is a subject all of my readers know I hold near and dear to my heart!  You can purchase current and past issues, like the digest I am reviewing today, for just $4.95.  Molly's Digest is written for and targeted towards helping Homeschool moms that need help balancing their households.  A balance that, we all know, can be quite a juggling act.  Molly's Digests are helpful in developing and maintaining that balance.  The digests are different every month and feature subjects ranging from organizing, coupons and cooking to crafting with the kids and holiday planning!

Molly's Money Saving Digest Ebook January's issue is full of helpful topics to assist you in organizing and prioritizing during the upcoming Spring semester and beyond.  The digest contains practical tips on organizing and how to start organizing without driving yourself insane!  Molly gives some excellent ideas and resources for decorating your home frugally, all of which "The Frugal Lady" approves of.  The digest also includes a Kid's Corner with each issue.  The Scout and The Bug enjoyed the paper mache piggy bank and the unit study on using a savings and checking account, which included a checkbook ledger and blank checks for the kids to practice with.  I also enjoyed the "Something Old, Something New" article in January's digest that gave some great ideas for re-purposing old items around the house to make new useful items.

Molly's Money Saving Digest is a great frugal resource for any homeschool wife and mother.  I recommend that you stop by The Old Schoolhouse and pick one up today.  It's never to late to "Evaluate, Prioritize, Organize"!

Have a blessed homeschool journey.

Help Lord, I'm Getting Ready to Homeschool My High Schooler: Ebook Review

Help Lord, I'm Getting Ready to Start Homeschooling My High Schooler: Ebook Review

I have the privilege of reviewing for my readers ,today, a new Ebook from the trusted writers and contributors at The Old Schoolhouse magazine & store.  The Old Schoolhouse magazine has been a staple in our home since we began our own homeschooling journey over 4 years ago.  In addition to their resourceful magazine, The Old Schoolhouse, also publishes many helpful Ebooks & resources that are built to help guide, lead and encourage homeschool parents and students.  You can visit The Old Schoolhouse store to see more of their great homeschooling resources.

Today I will be reviewing the Ebook: Help Lord, I'm Getting Ready to Start Homeschooling My High Schooler, written and compiled by the Old Schoolhouse writing team, headed by Kathy Reynolds.  The book retails at $12.45 and is a convenient downloadable product (no shipping required).  This Ebook is targeted toward parents that are preparing to homeschool their children between the ages of 14 - 18 years of age.  That being said, I do believe that this book is an excellent resource for parents with younger children too.  Any encouragement or help that can be gained in homeschooling your child is always welcome and essential.  Why not get a head-start!

This book was an encouraging resource for me as a homeschooling parent, even as a parent that views homeschooling a high school student from the far off (yet, too quickly coming) distance.  There is nothing more nerve wrecking to a home educator than preparing for the unknown.  Diving into the unchartered waters of homeschooling a teenager could drive any parent to make choices that they would not normally make.  This Ebook includes practical advise for the parent ready to homeschool an older child and encourages those in the unchartered waters of homeschooling high schoolers to stay the course.  The many families that contributed to this ebook share their stories of trial and triumph in homeschooling their own high schoolers.  The success stories are all very different, therefore; I feel confident is saying that I believe every home educator will find at least one method that speaks to their current situation.

I found it encouraging to know that there is no one exact formula to follow in homeschooling your older child during high school.  Every homeschool is different, every student is different and every high school experience will be different.  What remains the same is the need for every child to be homeschooled by the people that will advocate for them the most
. . . their parents!  I recommend this Ebook as a source for encouragement and guidance to those home educators who need it the most - HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS!

Be blessed in your homeschooling journey!

Why I homeschool . . .

Why do I homeschool?

I get this question from complete strangers, as I am sure many of you who homeschool do as well.  It is usually a barrel of responses that I have at the ready.  I homeschool my children for many reasons.  The main reason is, God has called me to it.  When I look at stories like the one below, I receive further confirmation from God that I have chose His path for educating my children.

Take a look at this young man's story and keep him in your prayers.
