The kids discussed and notebook-ed about Atlantic Ocean life and the new animals that would have been "under the Green Sea of Darkness" as Columbus made his way to the new world. Then we had a little fun with bubble wrap.
MATERIALS NEEDED: Manilla paper, Drawing Pencils, Coloring Pencils, Paint and Bubble Wrap.
1. First sketch and color your picture of life under the sea. Here the Squeaker sketched various tropical fish, starfish, jellyfish, seaweed, coral and an octopus.
2. Next, lightly brush your bubble wrap with tempera or watercolor paints, on the bumpy side of the bubble wrap.
3. Simply turn the bubble wrap onto your sketching and lightly push down around the work. Continue this process until you have reached the desired "bubbles under the sea" effect. Allow to dry and display.
